The National Technical Committee for Standardization of Building Materials for Walls, Roofs and Roads (SAC/TC285) was established in 2005. Its competent authority is the China Building Materials Federation. It is currently in its fourth term and has 71 members. Its secretariat is based at China Testing & Certification International Group Xi‘an Co., Ltd.

The Committee is responsible for the centralized management of the development and revision of national standards and industry standards in fields such as masonry bricks, blocks, wall panels, roofing tiles, and paving bricks. It has established a four-in-one standards system of “product + method + basic and general + management”. There are 69 currently effective standards and 12 projects under development.

In recent years, the Committee has undertaken 6 green standards research projects of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), actively promoting the development of low-carbon standards such as carbon footprint and carbon emissions. A number of its standards have won industry science and technology awards. At the same time, it continuously carries out standards publicity and training, supporting the green transformation and high-quality development of the industry. In the future, it will continue to improve the standards system and support the implementation of the industry’s “14th Five-Year Plan” goals.
