Packing Filler Testing

The braided packing industry in China has matured alongside the increasing sealing demands of fluid machinery. In the 1980s and 1990s, the widespread use of general equipment like pumps, valves, and compressors drove the large-scale application of braided packing. Primarily made of asbestos fiber or natural cotton/linen, it mainly served shaft sealing needs under low-pressure, ambient-temperature conditions. However, it suffered from poor sealing performance, shaft sleeve wear, and environmental concerns. Since the turn of the century, stricter environmental policies and equipment upgrades towards high pressure, high temperature, and aggressive media (acids, alkalis, organic solvents) have driven a material shift to non-asbestos fibers. High-performance fibers like aramid, carbon, and graphite have become mainstream, and braiding processes have evolved from plain weave to interwoven and composite core structures, achieving dual enhancements in sealing performance and shaft protection. In recent years, the rise of advanced sectors like nuclear power, deep-sea equipment, and hydrogen energy has imposed stringent demands for radiation resistance, deep-sea high-pressure resistance, and hydrogen embrittlement resistance. Coupled with evolving standards, the industry is accelerating its transformation toward precise fiber formulation, enhanced composite braiding, and extreme-condition adaptability. Today, China is a leading global producer of braided packing, covering all types, including flexible graphite packing, aramid interwoven packing, and carbon fiber composite packing, suitable for full applications: pumps, valves, reactors, steam turbines, deep-sea drilling equipment, and more.

We have set up a dedicated braided seal testing team. Based on media characteristics, shaft speed, and operating parameters, we provide customized testing services—including leakage rate and immersion resistance in aggressive media—helping strengthen dynamic sealing integrity in fluid machinery.
