Concrete and Constituent Materials Testing

The application of ready-mixed concrete in China began in the 1950s. Initially, it was primarily used to solve on-site construction challenges for large-scale projects (e.g., water conservancy projects), with temporary mixing stations established at or near the site to produce concrete solely for that specific project. This did not constitute commercial supply. In the late 1970s, China began introducing advanced technologies and equipment from abroad. In the early 1980s, cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Guangzhou successively promoted ready-mixed concrete, adopting modern construction methods including transport by mixer trucks and placement by concrete pumps. As production technology gradually matured, this period marked the formal start of ready-mixed concrete as an independent industry.
