Geology and Mineral Resources

The industry of metal corrugated (grooved) gaskets in China has matured alongside the advancement of heavy industry. In the 1990s, high-pressure equipment demands in sectors like petrochemicals and power generation spurred the large-scale application of metal sealing gaskets. Initially, simple flat gaskets were used, but their sealing and adaptability were limited. Since the turn of the century, the emergence of high-end equipment such as hydro-crackers and ultra-supercritical power generation systems has imposed stringent requirements on gaskets, including high pressure (≥10 MPa), high temperature resistance, and adaptability to irregular flange surface deformation. Metal corrugated gaskets, leveraging a composite structure of “corrugated profile elasticity + sealing layer conformity,” became mainstream. Materials evolved from carbon steel to corrosion-resistant, high-temperature alloys like 304/316 stainless steel and Inconel, while sealing layers shifted from asbestos to environmentally friendly materials such as flexible graphite and PTFE. In recent years, developments in nuclear power, aerospace, and other advanced fields, combined with evolving standards, are driving the industry toward “precise corrugation forming, multi-layer composite reinforcement, and extreme-condition adaptability.” Today, China is a core global producer of metal corrugated gaskets, with products covering critical equipment like shell-and-tube heat exchangers, reactors, and steam turbines, suiting high-end industrial scenarios from petrochemical refining to nuclear power and advanced manufacturing.

We have set up a dedicated testing team for metal composite seals. Based on equipment pressure rating, media characteristics (hydrogen environment, high corrosion), and temperature range, we provide customized testing services—including seal leakage rate, corrugation elasticity recovery, and composite layer peel resistance—to help safeguard high-pressure equipment sealing.
